Famed as much for its palm trees as its 500-year-old melaleuca trees, Palm Cove is the ultimate idyllic seaside village, perfectly located between both Cairns and Port Douglas. Glamorous resorts and day spas share the shores with a mixture of fine dining, cafes and a couple of ice cream parlours thrown in for good measure. Often with morning seas as calm as a placid lake, a sunrise paddle to Double Island will sure to be a trip highlight.
Cairns’ coastal suburb of Trinity Beach offers a winning holiday trifecta of accommodation, places to eat and plenty to see and do. Making up part of Cairns’ famed northern beaches, Trinity Beach looks like it stepped out of a dictionary’s definition of ‘tropical paradise’ and onto the Queensland map. Picture-perfect and easily accessible, 30 minutes from Cairns and 10 minutes from Palm Cove.
Port Douglas
Port Douglas is a chic, yet relaxed seaside village, perfect for couples, families and solo travellers alike, with a range of accommodation options to suit all budgets, a plethora of restaurants and bars, not to mention fantastic boutique shopping. The village is also the ideal base to explore the World Heritage-Listed Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation with an abundance of tours and day trips available.

The Daintree is the place to immerse yourself in nature and disconnect from the modern world. It’s a raw, wild, ancient environment that resembles a real-life Jurassic Park, where it looks entirely possible that dinosaurs could emerge from the lush undergrowth. The remote headland of Cape Tribulation is where two UNESCO World Heritage Sites meet – the Wet Tropics Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
